Aidwash

Aidwash
The charge that developed nations may repackage existing aid commitments as “green aid” to avoid giving more money to the developing world.

Ahead of the Copenhagen Climate Talks, the UN’s climate chief Yvo de Boer reiterated calls for a $10 billion “green fund” to help developing nations cut emissions and adapt to climate change. According to Adam Morton in The Age, de Boer stressed:

That funding must not be “aidwash” – repackaging of previous commitments designed to eradicate poverty. “The money that is tabled here needs to be real, it needs to be significant, it needs to be immediate and it needs to be additional,” he said.
